During the Covid-19 pandemic, the BRS ship can become a Navy fleet which is very useful for Indonesia as an archipelagic country. The ability of the BRS ship to reach small islands can be greatly utilized by the community as a means of additional health facilities in dealing with the pandemic. KRI WSH-991 will join the ranks of the Indonesian Navy's III Fleet Command Auxiliary Ship Unit which is capable of landing two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters on the deck.

This BRS ship was created as a hospital aid in dealing with the Covid-19 virus outbreak and preventing the expansion of the Covid-19 virus outbreak. BRS ships are mobile and can be moved in a short time to disaster-affected areas to carry out disaster emergency response activities. Based on TNI Law number 34 of 2004, in military operations missions other than war (OMSP), BRS ships can carry out operational tasks to help cope with the effects of natural disasters, evacuation, and provide humanitarian assistance as well as assist in search and rescue in accidents (search and rescue). Not limited to that situation, BRS ships also have the capability to carry out international diplomatic missions.
